Terrain Description:
Offering beautiful woodland or loch sidewalks, picnic sites, children's play areas and a newly refurbished Visitor Centre with café, Drumpellier Country Park is a great family destination.
The park is situated west of Coatbridge and within easy travelling distance from Glasgow, is situated close to both M8 & M73.
Formerly a private estate, the land was given over as a public park in 1919. It was designated as a Country Park in 1984 and covers over 500 acres of heathland, woods, grassland and two natural lochs - Lochend & Woodend.
The current permanent course was installed in 2005. STAG's use of the area has been extensive including South of Scotland Orienteering League Races & The 2015 Scottish Night Championships where the adjacent Lochview Golf Course was accessible.
As you travel to Strathearn 2019, the urge for a wee break may encourage you to stop off at Drumpellier Country Park adjacent to the M73 east of Glasgow. Take Jct 2a off the M73 North & turn back south into Gartcosh then follow the A752 turning left after 2 miles onto Townhead Road & then right into DCP after 400m. Park in one of the 3 Car Parks available.
The New Visitors Centre opened recently and has a refurbished Cafe & Toilets.
The course was checked on 4th July & all controls are accessible. The undergrowth in places is a nuisance so please dress appropriately. Posts are wooden with Red & White painted top; code number on front & a code letter on the back
Option 1 - 1.2k ; no climb - 20/30 minute walk - Start > Posts 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > Car Park / Visitors Centre. (White)
Option 2 - 2.2k ; no climb - 30/50 minute walk - Start > Posts 1 > 7 > 8 > 9 > 10 > 4 > 5 > Car Park / Visitors Centre (Yellow)
Option 3 - 3.2k ; 20m climb - 60/90 minute walk - Start > Posts 1 > 12 > 13 > 14 > 15 > 16 > 17 > 9 > 4 > 5 > Car Park / Visitors Centre.
Option 4 - All 18 controls in numerical order - 90-minute walk +. Distance approx 7k with 50m climb

Terrain description:
On the northern edge of Stirling lies the Wallace Monument, a commemoration to the 13th-century Scottish hero William Wallace and commands great views of Stirling. It is on the slopes leading up to the monument that you find this permanent course.
The area is forested and moderately steep with a map scale of 1:5000. There is a good path network, some rock/contour detail and changes in vegetation.
Parking is free, cafe and toilets on-site and a chance to enjoy great views from the viewpoint. If you want to go up the tower please buy tickets at the visitor centre at the bottom of the hill.

Terrain description:
Situated in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, just outside Aberfoyle. Three courses are available from the visitor centre. Maps are also available at the Visitor Centre.
The terrain is mixed with classic Scottish moraine, a steeper slope, outdoor education centre, deciduous woodland and a larger open area. There is some bracken in the summer, especially in the large open area.
The Visitor Centre has various displays, play area, a variety of walks, picnic areas, Go-Ape and a cafe with excellent views!

Terrain description:
A whaleback hill with lovely deciduous woodland in its western half and coniferous forest to the east, reduced in size as a result of recent clear-felling. On the open moorland area to the north, newly-planted trees are maturing and will add to the orienteering challenge. A good path network and fine views north to the Highlands and south over Strathearn.

Terrain description:
Kinnoull Hill is one of Tayside's most popular maps. It is a mix of deciduous and coniferous woodland with an intricate path network. The southern edge of the map is a line of steep crags; the area slopes downhill to the west and north, with pockets of interesting contour detail. Wonderful views over Perth from the top of the hill!
