Work has been progressing behind the scenes for some months now as we enter into our 11-month countdown to the 26th 6 Days of Scottish Orienteering. Perthshire 2027 promises beautiful forests, technical terrain and orienteering courses suitable for all levels.
Over the past nine months the Central Organising Team have been out working hard to make the 50th year of the Scottish 6 Days a success. We now have 11 months until the event and we’re on a countdown to early bird entries opening on 1st December.
Clubs have been allocated to days, areas have been identified, the mappers have been out surveying, and foresters have been visited to talk about ongoing works.
We’ve appointed various roles from Day Organisers to Technical Co-coordinators and we’re actively looking for younger orienteers to take up the mantle so we can continue the 6 Days for the next 50 years.
At Perthshire 2027 we will have one World Ranking Event, currently planned for the beginning of the week and a suburban sprint on the Rest Day. From string to sprint and long distance to elite courses the 6 Days has something for all the family.
Perthshire has a wealth of accommodation to suit any budget; hotels, holiday homes, camping, B&Bs or AirBnB’s you can find what you’re looking for. And there is no shortage of fun activities to do in-between competition for all ages; distillery tours, ancient castles, outdoor activities, soft play, museums, parks and more.

We know that you’re keen to book your accommodation and some online places don’t open up their bookings until 3-6 months to go, but we have often found that if you contact that by phone that they will take bookings that way. So, if in doubt – call them up! There are lots of accommodation options in the area.
At Scottish 6 Days we’d like to extend our thanks to all our volunteers but a special mention in this month’s update goes to Graham Ackland our Technical Co-Ordinator who has the mammoth task of wrangling planners, mappers, and walking the forests to try to foresee any issues. We couldn’t put this event on without the army of volunteers and workers behind the scenes!
